Farmers’ Market Rules and Regulations

The West Branch Farmers’ Market is again partnering with the Merchants for 2010.  This year the market will be located just off Houghton Avenue on S 3rd Street.  Vendors will be able to utilize the blocked off area for their sales.  The following guidelines are approved by the City of West Branch and are intended to give farmers and customers fair and equal treatment in the administration of the market.

Hours of the Market are Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. from July (or once product is ripe and harvested) through September (or until farmers no longer have product to sell).

Participants must pre-register at City Hall.

All items must be homegrown or homemade.

Spots are not assigned and are available on a first come, first served basis.  Farmers my make arrangements among themselves to honor tradition, but sites will not be pre-assigned by the City.  Farmers must supply their own tables, etc. to display their items.

Farmers must notify City Hall in advance of the dates that they will be vending at the market.

Sales people must be the farmers or family members of the farmers who grew or produced products.  Larger farms may not use employees to sell goods.

Farmers not abiding by these guidelines will be asked to leave the market and will be subject to trespass violation if they return without the permission of the City.

For more information contact City Hall at (989) 345-0500.
