-Theme for both contests- "Fun & Festivities in the City of West Branch"
    (Ideas for subject matter might include photos/videos of people enjoying upcoming events in the City, such as the Victorian Art Fair, Music in the Park, Hometown Hoedown, Christmas Parade, New Year's Eve celebrations, Winter Family Fun Day at Irons Park, etc.)

-Deadline for submissions for both contests: February 11, 2018 at midnight.

-Winners announced: Monday, April 16, 2018 during the regularly scheduled Council meeting, which begins at 6:00 p.m.

-Prizes for both contests: 1st place = $250 ;  2nd place = $100 ;  3rd place = $50


  2nd Annual City of West Branch Photography Contest:

Rules-
1.  All submission must be in digital JPEG format (unless the contestant has received written confirmation from a City employee that the alternative format that they have submitted the files in is acceptable and able to be easily opened on City devices).
     a.  Submissions may be sent via email attachment to cityhall@westbranch.com   -OR-
     b.  Submissions may be dropped off at West Branch City Hall [121 N. 4th St., West Branch,  
          MI, 48661] during business hours [M-F 8am-4:30pm] via CD, flashdrive, etc.
2.  All submissions should be of sufficient image quality/resolution so as to allow the image to be blown up to at minimum an 8" x 10" size, preferably a 16" x 20" size, without significant image degradation, pixelation, blurring, etc.
3.  Unlike last year, this year, each "submission" will consist of a "Portfolio" of photographs, which shall include no fewer than twenty (20) photos [with no maximum limit to the number of photos that may be included in the Portfolio].
4.  Anyone may participate in the contest, not just residents of the City of West Branch.  However, we do ask that all photos submitted contain images that were taken within the actual City limits of the City of West Branch only (i.e., not images taken in West Branch Township, Ogemaw Township, etc., as the goal of the contest is to document "Fun & Festivities in the City of West Branch").
5.  Submissions that include obscenities, vulgarities, nudity, or illegal activities will be rejected, and may be referred on to law enforcement, as appropriate.
6.  All contestants agree that by entering this contest, all of their submissions are immediately released into the public domain (meaning that the photographer is releasing any rights of ownership over the photo/s and agrees to allow the City of West Branch and any member of the public to henceforth have the right to use, share, or modify the photograph, even commercially, as the City intends to compile the photographs collected via this contest and use them for promotional purposes, such as promoting tourism on the City Website and Facebook page or beautifying City Hall by printing the photos and displaying them in frames, etc.).

  1st Annual City of West Branch Video Contest:

Rules-
1.  All submission must be in digital MP4 format (unless the contestant has received written confirmation from a City employee that the alternative format that they have submitted the files in is acceptable and able to be easily opened on City devices).
     a.  Submissions may be sent via email attachment to cityhall@westbranch.com   -OR-
     b.  Submissions may be dropped off at West Branch City Hall [121 N. 4th St., West Branch,  
          MI, 48661] during business hours [M-F 8am-4:30pm] via CD/DVD, flashdrive, etc.
2.  All submissions should be of sufficient image quality/resolution so as to allow the video to be clearly watched on a screen with display resolution of 1366 × 768 (i.e., a typical screen), without significant image degradation, pixelation, blurring, etc.--preferably also viewable without significant image degradation on screens with display resolutions of 1920 x 1080 (i.e., a higher definition screen) as well.
3.  Each contestant is able to submit as many videos as they desire, with no limit as to total length.  However, the minimum length for entry is that whether one or multiple videos are submitted, the total length of video footage submitted by the contestant must amount to at least two (2) minutes worth of footage to be eligible.
4.  Anyone may participate in the contest, not just residents of the City of West Branch.  However, we do ask that all photos submitted contain images that were taken within the actual City limits of the City of West Branch only (i.e., not images taken in West Branch Township, Ogemaw Township, etc., as the goal of the contest is to document "Fun & Festivities in the City of West Branch").
5.  Contestants are not required to, but are allowed to edit their videos prior to submission, and may choose to add music, special effects, etc., if so desired.
6.  Submissions that include obscenities, vulgarities, nudity, or illegal activities will be rejected and may be referred on to law enforcement, as appropriate.
7.  All contestants agree that by entering this contest, all of their submissions are immediately released into the public domain (meaning that videographer is releasing any rights of ownership over the video/s and agrees to allow the City of West Branch and any member of the public to henceforth have the right to use, share, or modify the video/s, even commercially, as the City intends to compile the videos collected via this contest and use them for promotional purposes, such as promoting tourism on the City Website and Facebook page, airing them on the City's public access TV channel 191, etc.).
