The City of West Branch is currently accepting applications from anyone interested in serving on the City Planning Commission.
Interested parties are required to complete an application, available either at City Hall or by clicking HERE.
Applications MUST be turned in no later than by noon on Wednesday, November 29th so that they can be included in Council packets for the 6:00 p.m. City Council meeting scheduled for Monday, December 4th in the Council Chambers of West Branch City Hall, as it is anticipated that decisions regarding appointments to the Planning Commission will likely be made during this meeting (so interested parties are encouraged to also come to the Council meeting if they desire, though attendance at the December 4th Council meeting is not required in order to be appointed--only the timely submittal of the completed application is required).
Payment for service on the Planning Commission is currently set at $25.00 per meeting, with regular Planning Commission meetings being held at 6:00 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the Council Chambers of West Branch City Hall (as well as 6:00 p.m. meetings at the same location on the 4th Tuesday of each month, as needed, depending on number of pending permits/applications, etc.).
The City's Planning Commission ordinance is currently in the midst of being amended. The proposed new ordinance, which has already been approved at first reading, is available by clicking HERE.
All members of all City Boards & Commissions are required by the City Charter to have satisfactory attendance at Board/Commission meetings in order to remain eligible for service. Therefore, applicants should be willing and able to commit to attending meetings and not missing more than 3 consecutive meetings in a row, nor missing more than 25% of all meetings within a fiscal year (July 1st - June 30th).
Anyone with additional questions relating to service on the Planning Commission may contact Clerk/Treasurer John Dantzer by calling (989) 345-0500 or emailing him at firstname.lastname@example.org
