Chief Williams has worked with the West Branch City Police Department since 1995.  He graduated from Hale High School in 1975 and attended Kirtland Community College for 1 year.  In 1978 he was hired by the Iosco County Sheriff Department were he remained employed until coming to work in West Branch.  In 1998 he was promoted to the position of Sergeant.  After Howard Hanft was elected Sheriff of Ogemaw County and took office January 1, 2001,  Rodger was appointed to the position of Chief of Police, effective February 5, 2001.

Chief Williams has attended numerous job related training programs.  He has also written several State Grants as well as three Federal Grants.  He is responsible for all reporting requirements involved with said grants.
